Telecom regulator Trai today extended the last date for receiving comments from service providers on steps to protect consumer interest and ensuring grievance redressal to September 15, 2010.
The consultation paper seeks to strengthen the regulatory framework and provide adequate protection to telecom consumers.
"In view of the importance of the issue, the Authority has decided to extend the last date for submission of written comments up to 15th September, 2010 and Counter comments Up to 22nd September 2010 by stakeholders," Trai said in a statement.
In May, Trai had convened a meeting of the chief executives of different telecom service providers and consumer advocacy groups on consumer protection and redressal of grievances.
Trai said that while it had brought out regulations on quality of service, grievances redressal and telecom consumer protection, it was a constant endeavour to continually evolve the redressal mechanism.
