Surya Roshni, the largest exporter of GI Pipes, and Flagship Company of the Rs 2,000-crore Surya Group, has pumped in fresh capital of Rs 550 crore to achieve a turnover of Rs 5,000 crore by the next three years.

“We have already invested Rs 550 crore to install three more plants in Bhuj (Gujarat), Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) and Kashipur (Uttrakhand) to increase the production capacity of G I Pipes and it has been planned to increase the current turnover of Rs 2000 crore of the group to Rs 5000 crore by next three years”, said Sunil Gupta, head – Corporation Communication of the company told reporters today.

Apart from Rs 550 crore, it has been planned to invest about Rs 300 crore to commission another plant in Vijay Nagar of Karnataka to manufacture H R Coil in the coming fiscal, Gupta said adding that it has also decided to increase the production capacity of CFL from 25 lakh piece per annum to 50 lakh piece.

Regarding the market share of the company, Gupta revealed that in case of lighting products, the company owned 26 per cent of the total market in the country and in the G I pipes, the group had a share of 20 per cent in the indigenous market.

He announced the launch of Group’s Programme to educate millions of consumers across 250 cities in India on the hazards of using spurious pipes.

The programme aims to educate dealers and 20,000 retailers and consumers on the ill effects and hazards of using spurious steel pipes. The programme also covers highlighting benefits of using good quality GI and ERW pipes.

“Spurious pipes last for just 2-3 years while pipes manufactured as per prescribed norms last for over 30 years or more. At a cumulative level, consumers end up paying more if they use sub-standard pipes.”
