Movil Mobile launches new handset in Gujarat
BS Reporter / Mumbai/ Ahmedabad Aug 12, 2010, 00:26 IST

Movil Mobile, a handset brand of Bling Telecom Pvt. Ltd., has launched its new phone, MC 100 in markets including Gujarat.

The MC100 has been designed with pro v2.0 amplifiers from Yamaha, apart from built-in 3D speakers and wireless FM. Other features include a TFT-LCD touch-screen with a 3.2 mp camera and an external memory upto 8 GB. The handset has been priced at around Rs 4,499.

“Our focus is to offer feature-laden phones at affordable rates. The time has come to break the monopoly of MNC brands who have been charging sky-high prices and offering next to nothing. We are also very bullish on stylish and feminine phones which will be a major part of our portfolio in the coming months,” said Rajiv Khanna, CEO, Movil Mobiles.

Recently, Bling Telecom launched at least 15 models of Movil Mobile and Bling Telecom handsets. Of the 800,000 handsets per month market of Gujarat, the company expects to garner a share of two per cent initially.

“Our focus is on establishing ourselves as a fashion and design phone brand. While Movil Mobile brand will also associate itself with leading designer names, fashion labels, etc. to cater to this segment, Bling Telecom brand will cater to the mass market,” Naresh Malhan, corporate advisor to Bling Telecom Pvt. Ltd. has said earlier.

Apart from ramping up distribution network, Bling Telecom is also adding close to 40 more service centers to the current 17. In next 2-3 months, the company will be investing around Rs 20-25 crore in the western region for expansion of its distribution network.
