Market holds its gains

Turning a blind eye to the negative opening in the European markets, the Indian markets continue to trade in the positive near the day's high. FTSE is down 0.5% while DAX is down 0.6% and CAC opened 0.1% in the negative. On the other hand, the Sensex is up 60 points at 18,705 and the Nifty has added 16 points at 5,620. Continuing its momentum, the smallcap index is up 1% and the midcap index has gained 0.6% as compared to the benchmark index at 0.2%.

Metal index, up 0.7% has bounced back from the bottom of the chart to lead the BSE sectoral indices list.Bankex, Realty too have rallied into the positive at 0.5% each. However, Oil & Gas, Auto,Capital Goods and FMCG continue to languish in the red. The propellers in the Metal space are SAIL, Sterlite gaining nearly 2% followed by Tata Steel, Hindalco and Jindal Saw adding 1% each.

ACC,SBI adding nearly 2% are the top gainers in the Sensex-30 stocks.Wipro, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Jaiprakash Associates,Bharti Airtel and Tata Power gaining 1% each follow.

Reliance Infrastructure and ITC down nearly 1% each are the top losers on the Sensex. NTPC,L&T,HDFC Bank and HDFC shdding nearly 0.5% are the other significant losers.


The marke braedth continues to be positive, 1789 stocks have advanced as compared to 1087 declines.
