Market at day's high

After some range bound movement, the markets touched an intra-day high of 18,650 and continues to hover around the same. The The benchmark Sensex is at 18653, higher by eight points and the Nifty is at 5,601, down two points. The smallcap index and midcap indices have also advanced and are up 0.8% and 0.6% respectively.

On the BSE sectoral indices, there were some major movements. IT and Teck which opened in the red has rebounded to top the charts at 0.7% and 0.5%. Health Care closely followes at 0.4%. Capital Goods has pared its gains and has slipped in the red, down 0.3% accompanied by Auto,Power,FMCG,Oil& Gas  and Metal at the bottom of the chart.

The movers in the IT space are Oracle Financial Services up 2%, Wipro, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies up 1% each. The draggers in the Capital Goods space are Crompton Greaves, Siemens, BEML and L&T down 1% each.

ACC (Rs 980) up nearly 2% is the top gainer on the Sensex followed by State Bank of India(Rs 2879) gaining 1.5%,Wipro (Rs 413) and TCS (Rs 879) adding 1% each.

The losers on the Sensex are ITC (Rs 164) down nearly 1%, Reliance Infrastructure, HDFC Bank, Cipla shedding 0.6% and Larsen & Toubro,NTPC, HDFC losing 0.4% each.

The market breadth is positive. Of the total 2911 stocks traded on the BSE, 1806 have advanced while 1026 have declined.
