Govt rejects BRPSE's request to study NACIL's balance sheet

The Board for Resconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE) today said the Civil Aviation Ministry has turned down its request to study the balance sheet of the loss-making National Aviation Company of India (NACIL) as the matter is being examined by a group of ministers.
"The Ministry (Civl Aviation) has turned down the request by BRPSE to study the balance sheet of NACIL stating the matter is before a group of ministers," BRPSE Chairman Nitish Sengupta told PTI.
He said when BRPSE wrote to Air India seeking to study its balance sheet, the Prime Ministers's Office and the Finance Ministry were both informed about it.
Sengupta also said BRPSE will again take up the matter at its board meeting within the next ten days.
NACIL was formed after the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines in 2007 and has been incurring losses every year.
It had a loss of around Rs 5,400 crore for the last fiscal.
The board was established in 2004 as an advisory body to suggest measures strengthening and reviving public sector companies.
